This week, we worked on our first set of SAT-level vocabulary words taken from Beowulf. We completed several anticipation quick writes about heroism, and we analyzed Capital One commercials for its use of Vikings (media literacy- what did Anglo-Saxons look like, why would Capital One use such people as their spokesman for the company?). We took background notes on the Beowulf epic and began reading Part I of the poem. ![]()

This week we participated in icebreaker activities and reviewed the class syllabus, rules, and procedures. We also developed personal learning goals, and began taking notes on the Anglo-Saxon period. ![]()
