This week, we worked on finalizing the MLA source cards for our persuasive research paper. We reviewed the essential pieces necessary to note cards, which will be due at the end of next week. We also learned about the rhetorical triangle and persuasive techniques used in speech. We analyzed a political speech, print ads, and television ads for their use of ethos, logos, pathos and also their use of a variety of persuasive techniques (bandwagon, snob appeal, testimonial, plain folks, magic ingredients, transfer, etc). We applied the SOAPSTone technique to analyzing persuasive text. Students then chose their own partners to complete the Media Literacy Group project, and time was allotted to work on this project.
