This week we worked on verbal, situational, and dramatic irony. We read and analyzed "Lamb to the Slaughter" for these types of ironies. Prior to reading the story, we completed an anticipation guide and participated in an informal Socratic Seminar to discuss our responses. We also worked on defining allusions and exploring Dahl's use of allusion in the short story. When we finished reading the story, we watched Alfred Hitchcock's version of the story, and we compared and contrasted the two texts. Lastly, we had to respond in writing to which version was more effective, and why.
