This week, we reviewed the guidelines for the persuasive research paper, the requirements for MLA source cards, and visited the library for an overview of the SIRS database. We also completed an MLA webquest to review the rules for on plagiarism, in text citation, and the Works Cited page. There was time in class to work on researching topics and completing source cards (template for source cards can be found on the English 10 GoogleClassroom site).

This week, we worked on finalizing and presenting our Group Poetry Projects. We also played Kahoot to analyze pieces of text to determine types of figurative language devices being used. This week, we also reviewed the guidelines for the persuasive research paper and potential topics. We began an MLA Citation webquest to review the rules for how to cite information within a paper and how to create a Works Cited page.
This week, we reviewed and took notes on types of poetry and figurative language used in poetry. We practiced identifying figurative language in the lyrics of a modern song and we practiced matching terms to definitions by playing Kahoot. We also worked on analyzing poetry using the TPCASTT tool. After analyzing several poems together as a class and independently, we received the directions and rubric for our Group Poetry Project.
In addition to your root word project, your persuasive essay is due 1/7 if you have not already completed it!
